about

Dunedin trio Death And The Maiden return with a second album of dark, hypnotic post-punk+minimal-techno+dream-pop. On “Wisteria” their shadowy sound world appears lighter and quicker-paced than their debut, yet somehow more sinister and unsettling than its predecessor, with an undercurrent of anxiety and unease.

The band’s name comes from a sketch by Edvard Munch ripped from a book as a keepsake while bassist and vocalist Lucinda King was travelling through Berlin. “Wisteria” continues the exploration of the dark bounds between love and death, beauty and decay, inspired by that sketch.
